Svechnikov scored twice to help Hurricanes defeat Flames for their ninth win in ten.

Andrei Svechnikov scored twice and the Carolina Hurricanes, who had been off for almost a week, returned to action on Friday night by beating the Calgary Flames (6-3)

Brady Skjei scored a goal and assisted with two assists. Derek Stepan and Tony DeAngelo also scored. Steven Lorentz added two assists for Carolina which won the ninth consecutive game in ten games. Frederik andersen stopped 36 shots, while playing a full-game for the first time since nearly three weeks.

Blake Coleman and Matthew Tkachuk each had an assist and a goal, while Johnny Gaudreau also scored, which was the longest streak of losses without a point for the Flames this season.

Dan Vladar stopped 31 shots and appeared in back-toback-games only for the second season this season. He was there after Thursday’s 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay.

A postponement had prevented the Hurricanes from playing since Saturday. They played a long first period, but Stepan, Svechnikov & DeAngelo scored in the second for a 4-1 lead.

Tkachuk scored his 13th of the season with 6:34 left in the second — less than a minute after DeAngelo’s goal, and Gaudreau cut Carolina’s lead to 4-3 with 11:03 to play.

Skjei scored with 1 minute left, and Svechnikov got his 2nd of the game and 12th season score less than a minute later.
