It’s 2022 and we’re back — but has anything changed? – [Update News]

Our power rankings disappeared for a few days. It’s hard to say, really.

Perhaps we were looking for a vacation. Maybe we viewed the whole exercise as pointless, given that there weren’t really, uh, any hockey games. Maybe we got tired of folks confusing The Rankings™ with the NHL.com standings page.

Doesn’t matter. None of it does — because we’re back. Spread the word. We’ll never leave you again.

The tie-breaker goes for the team with higher points percentage. Let’s roll.

1. Colorado Avalanche

Dom: When you had your preseason bold prediction about Cale Makar leading the team in scoring, you meant goals, right? He has scored 14 goals in 25 games and is one shy of Mikko Rantanen’s team lead. It’s not just seeing-eye shots from the point. He’s doing shit like this. Somehow. He’s a freak.

Sean: All we can hope for when we’re tuning into random Tuesday-night games is that we see something cool. That’s the point here, isn’t it? What else can we chase? That’s what I thought when I watched Makar throw poor Kirby Dach into a blender. I’m not sure there’s a player in the league more equipped to give us what we’ve never seen, on a night-in, night-out basis. We’re lucky to be able to watch him.
