Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Frites

Trader Joe's Sweet Potato Frites
I love fries. Fries, fries, fries. They go down into my stomach…

Let’s get straight to the point: Trader Joes Sweet Potato Frites. Bags are $2.29 each It is worth it. You get a large bag of delicious orange starchy sticks for your greenbacks. This is more than enough for two people. Two bags were consumed last night by my brother, his wife and their toddler for our weekly dinner. These were delicious basket-worths of food. The frites took just a few minutes to cook. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, much like sweet potato fries. They taste great! A little sweet, a bit salty and just right. Some of our friends sprayed theirs with ketchup (ugh! but that’s another story). TJ fries tasted good enough to me, at least.

They’re perfect, I think. They’re a great snack option. The only ever-so-slightly negative thng I’d say is, perhaps they’re just a teeny teeny bit pricy (by like *maybe* a few dimes) if for no other reason that I know plenty of spots around Pittsburgh to get a hot bunch of sweet potato fries for $2.29, at least after 10 p.m. or so. However, this won’t be a regular occurrence soon.

You can seeSandy is craving fries like mad lately. Sandy has been a huge fan of fries for years, but she’s had a lot of cravings in the last few months. Really This was a big step up. We’d be spending quite a lot if we had to take Sandy to the bar for good quality restaurant-quality sweet potato fries every time (which, please do not mistake, these TJ treasures are delicious). Sandy would probably be tired after a long work day…hmm…while craving fries…I suppose that’s what happens when your baby is due at the end June…well, it must be true, because I just wrote it! We are both excited and scared, but we will keep it here.*

This is why I think these fries will be a regular purchase. It is a smart idea to have an emergency stash in case she gets hungry. I know that I would be happy to give her a few sympathy packs. Sandy loved these fries (especially those that were slightly burned) and was reaching for them every night. So I was somewhat surprised when she suggested she’d have four. Only four? Really? It’s not really? It’s teamwork. This is how it should all work.

Bottom line: Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Frites are 9 out of 10 Golden Spoons
* I have a very limited soapbox (read: practically nonexistant) in the Trader Joe’s world but…why not offer some type of babyfood line? You could even call it Trader Joey, and add a kangaroo to it. Boom! Marketing is my profession.
