The short version is that if your favorite cookie butter is the original, you will love the crunchy variety. But don’t expect to get the crunchfests of the century. It’s still very smooth.
Cookie butter is a wonderful ingredient that I will tell anyone who doesn’t know it. For the remainder of this blog post, I will continue to use the word “awesome”. You might be wondering how amazing cookie butter is. Our review of cookie butter is one of the most popular posts on this blog, out of 362 total! This is partly because of Russ’s epic piece on The Daily MealPartly because cookie butter is amazing.
As such, this crunchy stuff is automatically awesome. In my review of this smooth version, I stated that there was no evidence that it was ever in cookie form. It is “smooth as butter.” But the crunchy variety actually feels a little like biscuits—pulverized well beyond recognition.
I still think it tastes pretty good. I think there is a huge difference between crunchy peanut butter and smooth peanut butter. I suppose I was expecting crunchy peanut butter to be the cookie butter equivalent. It’s actually a blessing in disguise, considering that I don’t currently have a dental plan. I wouldn’t like to break a tooth while eating a huge piece of speculoos biscuit and then consuming a slice of toast with crunchy cookie butter.
And if you’re wondering—yes, the taste is exactly the same. It’s the same sweet, delicious, gingerbready goodness we love. I plan to one day fill my tub with cookie butter before jumping in the bath and putting it on. Our YouTube channel. Stay tuned.
This product could be a bit crunchier. I will give it half of a star. It scores the same as the original cookie butter. Sonia gives it 4.5 stars. 4.5 stars for me.
