Trader Joe's Pita Crisps with Cranberries and Pumpkin Seeds

Well, hello friends. Sandy and me have been quite busy lately so I’ve been a bit neglectful in my posting duties. You could go on and on about the reasons: moving, packing, double closings. painting. Two out-of-town weddings. Unpacking. New shift/promotion at work. A toddler learning ….. I’ll take your lead. Dr EvilMove on. We are grateful to Nathan and Sonia, who managed to shake off the pumpkin-induced haziness and keep it going.

We have managed to find time and good food every now and again. Blog-writer Card Pullin’ Trip in Salt Lake City, complete with customers in lingerie – This is apparently why – semi-NSFW) we found the Cookie and Cocoa Swirl, we found these Trader Joe’s Pita Crisps with Cranberries & Pumpkin Seeds. We haven’t seen them in the ‘burgh yet, so this is a little off my memory. However, I believe it will be accurate enough.

These were mixed bag of different kinds, quite literally. Let me explain. Many, if they weren’t all, tasted very salty. That’s a big deal, I think. Sandy claimed that hers were not salty at all, and instead tasted sweet, especially with the cranberry bites. Perhaps I was taking in more air while driving and munching these. Antelope Island State Park. I’m not sure. Although the saltiness was not apparent until I had a few chips, once that happened, my satisfaction began to drop.  They were an acceptable snack option for munchies. Because they weren’t shelled, the pumpkin seeds didn’t really add much to their texture or taste. With its multilayered crispiness and crunchiness and occasional cranberry added in, it was a simple multigrain pita chips.

However, the inclusion of cranberries was a bit problematic. Most pita chips can be paired with any kind of salsa, hummus, or dip. The berries made these crave cream cheese. Pumpkin cream cheese, perhaps because it’s all season and whatnot? Maybe. Perhaps.

Well, whatever. M was driving around in a stinky lake gazing at buffalo, and M (now that M is walking, she’s no longer Baby M!) made an acceptable snack. She alternately snoozed, and then smeared blueberry/fruit sauce pouch snacks all over her head. These days Sandy were able to get a four-pack for her kids . It’s just too much for my blood. I’m going 2.5.

Bottom line: The Trader Joe’s Pita Crisps w/ Pumpkin Seeds and Cranberries are 6.5 stars out of 10 Golden Spoons
