If the Miami Dolphins are to get the best from Tua Tagovailoa they should reunite him and this head coach candidate.
The Miami Dolphins’ most shocking decision was made the day after the regular season ended. They fired Brian Flores, their head coach, despite two consecutive winning seasons during his three years in charge. But, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported that Flores had “deteriorating relationship[s]” with general manager Chris Grier and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, which played a role in owner Stephen Ross parting ways with him. They now need to find a new coach.
The Dolphins believe Tagovailoa is the right man to lead their team’s quarterback position. They need to find someone who can get the best out of their signal-caller. Brian Daboll is the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator.
Brian Daboll would make a great coach for the Dolphins.
Daboll was a highly sought-after coach for the past two years but, shockingly, he did not get a job last season. He has seven opportunities for employment in 2022.
Looking at the Bills assistant you will see that he was instrumental in developing Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen. The team drafted him in the first-round, 2018 NFL Draft. Allen was not without his struggles but eventually rose to be one of the most respected quarterbacks in this league. Particularly, take a look at Allen’s 2020 season. He threw for just 4.544 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions (69.2 percent completion percentage), and led the Bills to their first AFC Championship Game appearance.
Allen was able to complete 63.3 percent of his passes this year for 4,407 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions in just 17 games.
Tagovailoa and Daboll had previously worked together. After many stints in the NFL Daboll was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide when Tagovailoa was a freshman.
Daboll is already a subject of interest for the Dolphins, according to reports. They have requested interviews with him. per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. But they’re not the only ones who reached out to Daboll in search of their head coach vacancy.
Miami has caught some flak for taking Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert in the 2020 draft, especially when looking at the latter’s rise to superstardom with the Los Angeles Chargers. If they want to get the most out of Tagovailoa, Daboll should be at the top of the Dolphins’ candidates list.
